Mattie Walter Mattie Walter of Washington was honored on her 62nd birthday at a surprise celebration Saturday, May 2, at her home. Her birthday was April 30.

Hosts for the celebration were her sister and brother-in-law, Bessie and Raymond Porter of Washington.

A bountiful covered dish buffet was enjoyed by everyone. Dessert included Mrs. Walter's birthday cake, a red and white confection that featured her picture, the numeral "62" and wording "Happy Birthday Mattie."

Raymond Porter served as DJ for the celebration.

The gathering of family and friends also celebrated the May 3rd birthday of her brother, Raymond Porter, in addition to the May 1st birthday of their sister, Dorothy Bray of Atlanta, the April 13th birthday of sister, Deborah Mills of Washington, and the April 9th birthday of their niece, Roshandra Black.

About 30 guests attended the festive occasion.
