Dexter Norman (top, left) and Eric Scott (top, right) were already going to compete in the state Class A track meet this week in Jefferson. (Norman won the 300m hurdles at region and Scott won both the long jump and the triple jump.) But when the announcement came that Wilkinson County's 4x100 relay team had been disqualified, the Tigers' No. 1 team moved into second place in the region and thereby also qualified for a trip to the state meet.

Norman and Scott will now be joined in Jefferson by the other two members of the relay team, Deon Jackson and Tevin Turman. At right, Turman and Scott work on perfecting their handoff.
