TO THE EDITOR:

I would like to acknowledge everyone in Washington-Wilkes who offered their support and their volunteer hours to make the Relay for Life-2009 such a huge success.

It was a labor of love starting with the first planning session in the fall of 2008. Our community is fortunate to have so many talented and dedicated citizens who came forward to lend their expertise to this important event.

This event, our sixth annual, has exceeded budgeted monetary goals but of much more importance is the sense of community that developed as we all worked together for a common goal - to fight back against cancer.

On behalf of the RFL Planning Committee, I thank each of you for your contribution to recognizing the courageous battle endured daily by our cancer survivors and their caregivers.
