There was a little too much excitement on our street last Wednesday with a bomb scare. The most exciting thing that ever happens on Church Street is black cats crossing our path (plenty of those). Our street was blocked almost all day, so it was quiet with no traffic passing my house, but it looked like ants crawling around with all the law officers in the area. I'd rather not have any more excitement. Church Street, by the way, got its name from the first Tignall Baptist Church being located on this street where the cemetery is now located. .I failed to mention the Tignall High School reunion also coming up next weekend. The classes of 1945, '46, '47, and '48 will be having their reunion Saturday, June 13, at the Tignall School lunchroom. I know the first class reunions that I went to everyone was trying to impress each other on how young and trim we looked, the next reunion everyone just let it all hang out and had either gray hair or no hair. By the last reunion we were all just glad to be there. Thank goodness for name tags since our memories also fade. .Alex and Kay Tyler went to Hoschton to visit the Greg Tyler family on Sunday. Kay's and Alex's grandson, Jordan Tyler, came home after church camp last week with a new girl friend. He told his dad her name was Anna McKinney. Greg asked her parents' name and found out Jordan's new girl friend is a cousin from Augusta. She is the granddaughter of the late Ann Dunaway McKinney and Lamar McKinney of Evans. What a small world. Greg said, "You can be friends, but no kissing cousins." .Celebrating his 16th birthday was Jesse Denard on May 31. He and some friends had fun at Hester's Ferry on the day of his birthday. On Monday, June 1, his grandmother, Mary Will Denard, baked a cake and they had a family supper for him at the home of Ralph and Mary Will Denard. Happy birthday, Jesse. .We left out Stacey Ware when I mentioned that the family went to see Price Rogers play ball last week. Stacey wouldn't have missed Price's ball game for anything. .Visiting Vivian and Louie Wolozin Saturday were Dale and Kathy Robertson of Winder. .Spending the weekend with Myrline and Jerry Thornton were Rudy and Mary Jacobs of Monticello. Camping on one of their ponds were friend, Jay Smytt, and his two little boys. They all went fishing, even Myrline. Rudy and Mary took her down to their ponds and I'm sure getting out of the house helped her feel better. .Gloria and Layton Harris and Curtis and Robbie Tanner attended the Smith family reunion in Comer Sunday. This reunion was from the family of Curtis and Gloria's paternal grandmother. It seems that family reunion attendance is getting smaller and smaller and some are even disappearing. It is sad that some cousins don't ever get to see each other or even know each other. .Joining Graydon and Pat Bobo the last weekend in May for a weekend at a cabin on Lake Blue Ridge in Mc- Caysville were Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCann, Madison, Travis, and Sierra Griffin of Bainbridge, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bobo of McDonough. .R.C. and Barbara Oakley of Hampton spent the weekend in their Beulah home. Joining them for the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Oakley of Charlotte, N.C. . Celeste and Fay Durham enjoyed lunch at the Talk of the Town in Washington Wednesday. Celeste joined Elaine Boiter for lunch at the McRay House in McCormick Friday. Celeste says this is a wonderful tea room. I'll have to check out that place. .Leon and Linda Aycock and Brian and Tonya Callaway spent the weekend with Gordon and Jewell Brown in Cullwage, N.C. The ladies enjoyed a trip to Pigeon Forge Saturday while the men went fishing. That's the best thing to do. Let the men fish so the ladies can enjoy shopping. .Andrew and Pat Grimaud's grandson, Jake Cartledge of Evans, left Sunday on his way to New York to make a movie. How exciting! He will be gone for a month. .Richard and Carolyn Gammon met with Bill and Brenda Gammon of Chickamauga at Modoc Campgrounds in Modoc, S.C., Saturday where Bill and Brenda were camping over the weekend. They started out camping in the Everglades of Florida and now they are making their way home. They all enjoyed a cookout together. .David and Nancy Hilley attended the Prince Reunion in Elberton at Camp Harmony Sunday. There was good attendance. They enjoyed seeing the local family members and also family members from Atlanta, Augusta, and Anderson, C. Owen Hilley visited David and Nancy from Tuesday to Thursday. He is their golf cart chauffer when he visits. He also likes to work in the garden. He waters the plants with his little bucket, sometimes he sits in it, sometimes he wears it on his head. Gardening is good experience for children. I hear of more people having gardens this year than ever. Paula Stevens said she went to get a tomato plant and when asked what kind of tomato did she want, she answered, "a round red tomato." .Tignall Baptist Church had a wonderful Vacation Bible School last week with an average attendance of 75. Bible School commencement was held Friday night with some of the little ones being quite a bunch of entertainers. Keith Wolfe played the part of Simon Peter during the week and played the part perfectly. .Twenty-nine people from Tignall Baptist Church left Monday for this year's youth MissionFuge, traveling to Charleston, S.C. .A baptism service was held at Tignall Baptist Church Sunday with four new members being baptized. Those baptized were Hunter Futch, Lauren Harrison, Wendi Harper, and Keith Wolfe. The special music was a ladies quartet, Faye Lamar, Pam Pullen, Susie Futch, and Tina VanHart, singing "Come."
.Homecoming will be next Sunday, June 14, at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Revere bringing the message at 11 a.m. with a covered dish dinner after the service. At 1 p.m. a gospel group called The Four Apostles from Greensboro will be bringing special music. Everyone is welcome. .Vacation Bible School will be held at Beulah Baptist Church June 22-25 at 6:30 p.m. .Let's remember the following people in our prayers this week: Todd Bradley who has been a patient at Athens Regional but is home now; Frances Vinson who has been in and out of the hospital quite a lot lately; Nita Riley, Calli Nickels, Brenda Bunch, Amy Turner, Gloria Harris, Irene Echols, Margie Wilson, Gary Rogers, Myrline Thornton, and Kathy Poss. .My little granddaughter, Kaci Gammon, once said she was homesick. I told her she couldn't be sick because she was at home. She said, "Well, I'm sick, and I'm at home!"
