Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nicholas Wells
Bridgett Elizabeth Berry of Washington became the bride of Joseph Nicholas Wells of Lincolnton in a double-ring ceremony Saturday, May 16, at six o'clock in the evening at Phillips Mill Baptist Church in Washington. Rev. Donnie Berry of Rayle officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Chuck and Julie Berry of Washington.

The bridegroom is the son of Gary and Mary Ann Wells of Lincolnton.

The altar was decorated with arch candelabra, ferns and potted petunias. The couple participated in the sand ceremony where they poured two different colors of sand together to signify becoming one.

Lexi Stone of Washington, cousin of the bride, tended the guest register.

A program of pre-recorded music was provided by Mike Fortson of Washington.

Mr. Wells was his son's best man. Usher-groomsmen were Josh Wells, Kelly Wells, Todd Wells and Gene Wells, brothers of the bridegroom; also Jordan McCombs and Tyson Cunningham, all of Lincolnton, and the bride's brother, Brandon Berry of Washington.

Mindi Burton of Tignall and Libby Fortson of Washington served as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Erin Berry, sister-in-law of the bride, Allison Stone and Ashley West, cousins of the bride, and Jessica Fisher of Washington; Whitney Kirkland of Lincolnton and Katlyn Hagan of Dearing.

Each attendant wore a strapless knee-length gown designed with an accenting ribbon under the bustline in a princess effect. While all the gowns were in the same style, each was a different color that was mirrored in the ribbon around the single white Gerber daisy each one carried.

Katie Stone of Washington, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. Her gown was a miniature design of the bridal gown. She carried a basket tied with pink bows and filled with miniature pink and white Gerber daisies.

Cory Bedsole of Washington, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The bride was escorted by her father who also carried the couple's daughter, Aleksandra Julianne. After the ceremony, Aleksandra exited with her parents.

The bride was lovely in a white gown fashioned with a fuchsia banding that continued from the front bodice around to the back and trailed down the back of the gown. The slightly flared skirt fell from the fitted dropped waist.

Her shoulder-length veil dotted with rhinestones fell from her pearl and rhinestone headpiece.

Pearl drop earrings completed her attire.

She carried a bouquet of white and fuchsia Gerber daisies.

For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Berry chose a strapless knee-length dress fashioned with a black bodice over a blue floral print skirt.

Mrs. Wells, the bridegroom's mother, wore a two-piece black dress with peach floral detailing.

They were presented corsages of white Gerber daisies.

Also seated in places of honor were the bride's grandparents, Bob and Betty West of Washington, and great-grandmother, Ruby Arnold of Rayle.

Reception

Following the ceremony the couple and guests were entertained by the bride's parents at a receptionbarbecue at the Washington-Wilkes Country Club.

As guests arrived, they signed the mat surrounding the couple's engagement picture.

The clubhouse was festively decorated with colorful paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and large Paper Mache Gerber daisies on the walls. Potted petunias and ferns added to the decorations

White cloths with turquoise table runners and vases of Gerber daisies enhanced the tables.

The bride's table, covered in white, featured four satellite cakes, each in a different size and displayed on separate stands from the largest layer on the short base to the smallest that was displayed on the tallest stand. Each was wrapped with a different color ribbon. Gerber daisies topped three of the cakes and the fourth and smallest was topped with a silver "W." Cake was served by Tricia Stone of Washington, aunt of the bride.

The bridegroom's table showcased five different flavors of cheesecake.

As a wedding gift to the couple, Jason Callaway of Washington cooked and prepared a delicious dinner of barbecue, potato salad and coleslaw.

Thomas and Florine Norman of Washington also assisted in serving.

Mr. and Mrs. Wells are making their home in Grovetown.
