Lady Tigers softball action heats up in games at Greenbrier, Ashley Park
Last week the Washington-Wilkes Lady Tigers went 2-1-1 at the Greenbrier Slugfest held Thursday through Saturday in Augusta.
On Thursday the Tigers played to a 5-5 tie against the Evans Knights. The Ladies got down 0-4 but battled back to tie the game in the sixth inning with a single from Loren Roberts. The game was called in the sixth due to the 1½-hour time limit.
The second game of the doubleheader was played against the North Oconee Titans. The Tigers played hard but could not come up with any offense losing a close game 3-0.
On Friday, the Tigers beat Grovetown 13-2, and in the second game beat North Hall 2-0. Gabby Lavender had the winning hit for the Tigers in the bottom half of sixth inning as the game was scoreless at that point. Lauren Chafin picked up both wins on the mound.
On Wednesday of this week, the Lady Tigers hosted Thomson at Ashley Park beginning at 5 p.m. but results were not in by press time for this issue.
