Two city councilmen announce their runs for November election
Two incumbent Washington city councilmen have already announced their candidacy for re-election in November.
District 2 Councilman Pamela L.G. Eaton and District 1 Councilman Rev. G.L. Avery both announced their intention this week to run for re-election in the November 2009 municipal election.
City officials have not announced the qualifying period for the election, but it is expected to be in late August. The qualifying dates will be announced in advance in The News- Reporter.
District 1's Maceo Mahoney is also up for re-election in November, but he has not yet announced his intentions.
Candidates for the fall election are reminded that an announcement article of their intention to seek office will be run free of charge in The News-Reporter one time. However, information for such an article must be received by the newspaper not later than one week after the close of qualifying. Candidates are responsible for providing the information and will not be contacted by this newspaper.
Eaton released her announcement letter for publication in this week's edition.
