Police, W-WPRD to sponsor bike rodeo for children 7-13 The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department and the Washington Police Department will sponsor a bike rodeo July 7 on the track adjacent to the recreation center. The rodeo is for children ages 7-13 and is designed to give them tips and instructions on bicycle safety. Games and fun activities will be included. and free helmets will be given away. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. Participants will need to bring their own bicycle for the rodeo, and are encouraged to bring their own helmets. Assistance will be given to the ones that need bicycle repairs. Members of the police department will teach bicycle safety for riders on public streets, and show participants how to prevent their bike from being stolen. Assistance will also be given to ones who need bicycle repairs. Refreshments and other prizes will be provided Participants must sign up early at the W-WPRD. Volunteers are needed to assist with the rodeo. |
