Maura Jackson, daughter of Rob and Beth Jackson, shared birthday honors with her friend, Salem Twiggs, daughter of David and Ashley Twiggs of Thomson, at a swim and slumber party Friday, May 29, at Maura's home on the Greensboro Road.

With the girls' eighth birthdays less than a week apart, they chose to host a party together to celebrate.

With swimsuits and sleeping bags in tow, the girls began and ended the party in the pool.

They enjoyed hot dogs with all the trimmings for supper and birthday cake and ice cream later in the evening.

Each girl decorated a personalized pillowcase and filled a keepsake cup with treats from the Hannah Montana piñata.

Joining Maura and Salem in celebrating their May birthdays were Madison Adams of Norwood, Ali Aycock of Lincolnton, Cece Twiggs, Holly Banister, Cameron Cheely, Corby Dent and Abby Hyman, all of Thomson, Jaci Langford of Warrenton, Alyssa Holley, Maci Dyson, Ali Bennett, Kathleen Storrin and Ashlyn Holley, all of Washington, India and Gracie Callaway of Rayle and Taylor Guin and Laney Thornton of Tignall.
