Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have homecoming Sunday, August 9, 11 a.m. Revival services will be held August 12-14, 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Calvin Daniels of St. Paul Baptist Church of Society Hill.

Fishing Creek Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m. The speaker will be Dr. Larry Guido of Metter, brother of the late Dr. Michael Guido. Special music will be by Logan Smith.

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have its annual family and friends day on July 19, 4 p.m. The guest minister will be Rev. Edna Latimer, co-pastor of Kingdom of God in Athens.

The Wilkes County Board of Registrars will meet Thursday, July 16, in Room 323, Wilkes County Courthouse, at 10 a.m.

White Rock Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will celebrate its 135th anniversary Sunday, July 19, 2:30 p.m. Rev. T.C. Edwards and the Friendship Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C., will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have Men's Day Sunday, July 19, 3 p.m. Rev. Richard C. Moss of Walnut Grove Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.

Jackson Chapel AME Church will host a retirement service in honor of retired Wilkes County School Superintendent Joyce Williams on Sunday, July 26, 3 p.m. Presiding Elder Ella M. Samuels will be the guest speaker.

New Springhill Baptist Church, 2491 Crawfordvill Philomath, will have homecoming and revival services. Homecoming is Sunday, August 2, 11:30 a.m., along with the regular service. Revival services will be held Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. Springhill pastor, Rev. Dr. R.A. Hunter, will deliver the homecoming message. Rev. Dr. Alvin Smith, pastor of The Door Fellowship Church, Tucson, Arizona, will be the guest messenger for the revival services.

The descendants of John Callaway Poss will have a family reunion July 26, at the Lions Club building in Washington. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. The building will be open at 10 a.m. Those attending should bring their favorite food, dessert, and enough tea for

The Class of 1964 will meet at Club 44 (Booker's Club) at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1.

The Norman Family Association will be holding its biannual reunion Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1. Registration will be at the Lincoln Center in Lincolnton Friday, 6-7 p.m. A guided cemetery tour will depart from the Lincoln Center at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held at Midway United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. followed by a short business meeting. The family will gather for dinner in the Lincoln Center at 7 p.m. Early registration is encouraged and may be made with Thornton Norman at 706-436-3025.

The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor Fun in the Sun 2009 on Saturday, August 15, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Liberty Street Park. Admission is free. There will be water games, a dunking booth, volleyball tournament, watermelon eating contest, food, drinks, music, and dance.

The Washington-Wilkes Food Bank located at 420 Jackson Street will be open Saturday, July 18, from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m.

Booker's Chapel Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, with Sunday School at 10:30 a.m.; and the sermon at 12:00 noon by Pastor Dante Smith. Dinner will be served.

Mount Nebo Baptist Church will celebrate its 138th anniversary Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m. Special guests will be Rev. Lance Pitts, Mayor and Mrs. Willie Burns, and Determine of Warrenton.

Early registration for the Wilkes County Back2School GiveAway which will be held at the old W-WCHS/W-WMS gymnasium August 1 at 3 p.m., is set for Tuesday, July 21, at 7 p.m. To sign-up to receive clothing, school supplies, and toiletries, applicants must bring "proof of household members" to the Reese J. Booker playground. Additional information regarding the giveaway will be given at that time. All Wilkes County citizens are welcome.

Wills Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a Bereavement Support Group the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the hospital library. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on the sharing of experiences and changes to everyday living that have come about by the loss of a loved one. This group is facilitated by Rev. Glen Kohlhagen, who serves as a hospice chaplain and as pastor of the Washington Presbyterian Church. The next meeting will be held on August 12. If you have any questions, call 706-678-7511.

The Move of God Church at Rayle will have its next "footwashing" service Sunday, August 30.

The Move of God Church of Rayle, temporarily located at 152 Horace Callaway Road, will have a Holy Ghost Revolution July 26-August 2. There will be an outpouring of the Spirit of God; believers receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost; deliverance from addictions and the powers of darkness; and prayer for the sick in each service. Services are at 10 a.m. each morning; 2 p.m. in the afternoon, and 7 p.m. in the evening. The public is invited.

The free educational workshop originally scheduled for Saturday, June 27, has been rescheduled for July 11, 1-5 p.m., at the Mary Willis Library.
