The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor Fun in the Sun 2009 on Saturday, August 15, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Liberty Street Park. Admission is free. For several weeks The Sandwich Shop on The Square in Washington has had a donation jar on the front counter to collect donations for the Calli Nickels fund. So far, $125 has been collected and the owners, Bruce and Paula Fitzgerald, have matched this amount for a total of $250. They urge everybody to stop by and make a donation to this fund.

Wills Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a Bereavement Support Group the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the hospital library. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on the sharing of experiences and changes to everyday living that have come about by the loss of a loved one. This group is facilitated by Rev.
