The Seventh Day Adventist Church will have its food pantry open on Thursday, July 23, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Sandy Cross Baptist Church will have revival services July 26-29, 7 p.m. each evening. The guest speaker will be Rev. Brancie Stephens, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C.

. Gibson Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming Family and Friends Day, Sunday, August 2, 11:30 a.m. Please dress casually. Dinner will be served.

Beulah Baptist Church will have a fish fry and bake sale at the church Saturday, July 25, 6 p.m.

Charlotte Ritchie will present a concert of Christian music at the Tignall Baptist Church Sunday, August 9, at 6 p.m.

Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have homecoming Sunday, August 9, 11 a.m. Revival services will be held August 12- 14, 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Calvin Daniels of St. Paul Baptist Church of Society Hill.

Fishing Creek Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m. The speaker will be Dr. Larry Guido of Metter, brother of the late Dr. Michael Guido. Special music will be by Logan Smith.

Revival services will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church July 27-31. Services will begin at 8 p.m. Dr. Ben Glosson will bring the messages each evening.

Jackson Chapel AME Church will host a retirement service in honor of retired Wilkes County School Superintendent Joyce Williams on Sunday, July 26, 3 p.m. Presiding Elder Ella M. Samuels will be the guest speaker.

New Springhill Baptist Church, 2491 Crawfordvil le Road, Philomath, will have homecoming and revival services. Homecoming is Sunday, August 2, 11:30 a.m., along with the regular service. Revival services will be held Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. Springhill pastor, Rev. Dr. R.A. Hunter, will deliver the homecoming message. Rev. Dr. Alvin Smith, pastor of The Door Fellowship Church, Tucson, Arizona, will be the guest messenger for the revival services.

The descendants of John Callaway Poss will have a family reunion July 26, at the Lions Club building in Washington. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. The building will be open at 10 a.m. Those attending should bring their favorite food, dessert, and enough tea for their family. Booker's Chapel Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, with Sunday School at 10:30 a.m.; and the sermon at 12:00 noon by Pastor Dante Smith. Dinner will be served.

The Class of 1964 will meet at Club 44 (Booker's Club) at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1.

The Norman Family Association will be holding its biannual reunion Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1. Registration will be at the Lincoln Center in Lincolnton Friday, 6-7 p.m. A guided cemetery tour will depart from the Lincoln Center at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held at Midway United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. followed by a short business meeting. The family will gather for dinner in the Lincoln Center at 7 p.m. Early registration is encouraged and may be made with Thornton Norman at 706- 436-3025.

The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor Fun in the Sun 2009 on Saturday, August 15, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Liberty Street Park. Admission is free. There will be water games, a dunking booth, volleyball tournament, watermelon eating contest, food, drinks, music, and dance.

Mount Nebo Baptist Church will celebrate its 138th anniversary Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m. Special guests will be Rev. Lance Pitts, Mayor and Mrs. Willie Burns, and Determine of Warrenton.

Newtown Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, 11 a.m. Revival services will be held August 3, 4, and 5, at 7:30 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Newsome as guest speaker..

Beulah Baptist Church, Hwy. 79 N. at Gills Point Rd., will have a fish fry and bake sale Saturday, July 25, at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go toward paving the parking lot at the family life center. Take out orders are available for the fish fry.

A bike ride and barbecue benefit for Brenda Bunch will be held Saturday, August 8, at the old Tignall gin house, 136 Church Street, Tignall. A horseshoe tournament will begin at 1 p.m and a silent auction will be held with half and half, tickets and door prizes. The Wilkes County Board of Assessors will hold its monthly meeting July 23, at 9 a.m. in Room 202, Wilkes County Courthouse.

A benefit chicken barbecue will be held for Calli Nickels, 13-yearold cancer victim, Saturday, August 1. Tickets are $7.00 each and are available by calling Kyle Bearse or Tim Jackson, or 706-678-2912. Plates will be available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.

Phillips Mill Baptist Church at Tyrone will have homecoming Sunday, August 9, at 11 a.m. Interim Pastor Jamie Callaway of Elberton will be the speaker. Following the Sunday morning service there will be a covered dish lunch. Revival services will be held Sunday through Wednesday evenings. The service on Sunday evening will be at 6 p.m. Services on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be at 7 p.m. There will be special music every night.

The Washington 7th Day Adventist Church, 1036 Lexington Rd., Washington, will have Vacation Bible School July 27-August 1, 9 a.m. to 12 noon, for ages 3-12. Theme for the week will be "It's All About Jesus, VBS."

Melanie Hart, Canadian Christian singer and songwriter, will give a "Concert on The Square" in downtown Washington, Saturday, August 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Michael Moore and Amethyst Winn and the "Purpose of Life Singers" will open for the singer and will sing during intermission. A love offering will be taken. Bring own lawn chairs.

Price's Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, August 2,. The speaker will be Rev. Timothy West from the Thankful Baptist Church.

For several weeks The Sandwich Shop on The Square in Washington has had a donation jar on the front counter to collect donations for the Calli Nickels fund. So far, $125 has been collected and the owners, Bruce and Paula Fitzgerald, have matched this amount for a total of $250. They urge everybody to stop by and make a donation to this fund.

Homecoming will be held at the Flint Hill Baptist Church Sunday, August 2.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will have revival services July 27-31, 7:30 p.m. each night. Rev. Michael Curry of Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Sparta, will be the guest minister.

Wills Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a Bereavement Support Group the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the hospital library. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on the sharing of experiences and changes to everyday living that have come about by the loss of a loved one. This group is facilitated by Rev. Glen Kohlhagen, who serves as a hospice chaplain and as pastor of the Washington Presbyterian Church. The next meeting will be held on August 12. If you have any questions, call 706-678-7511.

The Move of God Church at Rayle will have its next "footwashing" service Sunday, August 30.

Hilliard Station Baptist Church will have homecoming August 16, 11:45 a.m. Pastor Dwight Foster of Hilliard Station will be the speaker. Dinner will be served.

The Move of God Church of Rayle, temporarily located at 152 Horace Callaway Road, will have a Holy Ghost Revolution July 26-August 2. There will be an outpouring of the Spirit of God; believers receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost; deliverance from addictions and the powers of darkness; and prayer for the sick in each service. Services are at 10 a.m. each morning; 2 p.m. in the afternoon, and 7 p.m. in the evening. The public is invited.

Mark's Tabernacle Baptist Church will have revival services July 27-30, 7:30 p.m. Rev. Reginald Welborn from Atlanta will be the guest minister.

The Flint Hill Baptist Church will have annual revival services July 27-31, with Rev. Abraham Moses as guest speaker.
