Overall, individual champions named in Tigers' 2009 Iron Man competition
      During two days of "friendly" competition last week, a number of Tigers showed their prowess in an "Iron Man" contest which tested their strength, skill, and abilities in several disciplines of weight-lifting and agility. At the conclusion of the events, top finishers were named and points were awarded to determine overall finishes. Results are as listed below.

W-WPRD soccer signup to continue through August 14
      Sign-up for the Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department (W-WPRD) fall soccer program has begun and will continue through August 14. The program is for children ages 5-17 (if still in school). The age groups will be five and six-yearolds; seven-and eight-year olds; nine through 11-year-olds; 12-14-yearolds; and 15-year-olds and up.

Graham Echols finishes AJGM tour in second place
      Competing in the Augusta Junior Golf Magazine Tour event held July 23, at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Augusta, Graham Echols shot an even par 72 to finish one stroke off the lead in second place. With a double-bogey on the parfour first hole, and bogeys on three, six and eight, Echols seemed to struggle through the front nine.

Lady Patriots take second in tournament
      Competing late into Friday night and early Saturday morning the Lady Patriots of Nathanael Greene Academy opened their season by finishing second at the Windsor Academy First Strike Tournament. The AA Patriots were able to defeat AAA schools Mount De Sales and Central Fellowship on their way to the championship against Robert Toombs.
