The First United Methodist Church at 102 West Liberty Street, Washington, will be host to a 13-week program on financial planning for the future provided by Financial Peace University (FPU). The classes will begin Sunday, August 9, at 4 p.m. at the church.

The sessions will be taught by Dave Ramsey on DVD in a fun and entertaining way, according to Marshall Frost who is in charge of registration and information on the sessions.

The program seeks to teach families and individuals how to handle their money through common-sense principles and small group accountability.

"I like to put the cookies on the shelf where everyone can reach them," says Ramsey. After each lesson the group will meet to help each other plan budgets, discuss successes and temptations, and support each other in their journey to beat debt and build wealth.

Topics to be covered in the classes include saving for emergencies, budgeting, relationship and money issues, buying big bargains, getting out of debt, understanding investments, understanding insurance, retirement and college planning, buyer beware, careers and extra jobs, and real estate mortgages.

Ramsey knows first-hand what financial peace means in his own life -- living a true riches to rags to riches story. By age 26 he had established a four-million-dollar real estate portfolio, only to lose it by age 30. He has since rebuilt his financial life and now devotes himself full-time to helping ordinary people understand the forces behind their financial distress and how to set things right, financially, emotionally, and spiritually.

For information on registration, obtaining workbooks, cost, and other information, interested persons should contact Marshall Frost at 404-583-6945 or mfrost@longsrx. com. The sessions are open to any interested persons.
