Funeral services for Amelia Jones Wright, 85, of Washington were held Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. The interment was in City West Cemetery. She died Sunday, July 26, at t\he Medical College of Georgia (MCG) Health System in Augusta.

Mrs. Wright was a native of Wilkes County and the daughter of the late Israel Jones and Marshann Jones. She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church and was the widow of Leroy Wright. She was a very gentle, kind and warm person and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include five children and their spouses, Louise and Robert Booker and Mary Wright of Washington, Sarah Wright, Athens, Sylvester and Teresa Wright, and Billy and Missy Wright of Lincolnton; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Jonathan Booker, William Davis, Carey Freeman, Curtis Grant, Brian Moore, Randy Turner, and Wilson Wynn.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
