Funeral services for Laura Colbert Hester, 83, of Washington were held Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington, with Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. She died Friday, July 31.

Mrs. Hester was a native of Oglethorpe County and had lived in Wilkes County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mamie Huff Colbert and was the widow of Marion Steed Hester. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Wideman, Washington, and Anne Wideman, Rayle; two sons, Emory Hester, Lithonia Springs, and William (Sonny) Hester, Conyers; two sisters, Annie Crook, Washington, and Hazel Callaway, Rayle; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
