Frances Wheelis WOM members enjoy salad supper at Nelms home
Hummingbird Hill, home of Richard and Kay Nelms in Logan Wood, was the scene of the salad supper and meeting of the Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church Monday evening, August 3.
Mrs. Nelms welcomed members who brought delicious salads and desserts for the meal. Susan Pope offered the blessing.
After the meal everyone gathered in the den for the meeting.
Melanie Wells presided and opened the meeting with members reading the WMU Watchword. During the business meeting, reports were given by Gail Hunter and Louise McClearen.
Kay Nelms gave the mission report and members voted to make donations to Shaped by God, Rick's Institute in Liberia, the Walhalla Foundation that provides a ministry in Romania, Georgia Baptist Children's Home and Christmas in August.
Mrs. Nelms led the installation of officers for the coming year and installed Cheryl Edwards, facilitator; Melanie Wells, vice-facilitator; Rosemary Hopkins, secretary; Gail Hunter, treasurer; Priscilla Moore, mission study; Teresa Bishop, mission support; Kay Nelms, mission action; Julia Palmer, social chairman; and Pat Grimaud, card chairman. Mrs. Nelms used seashells in her installation, continuing the seashell theme she had used on tables for the meal.
Teresa Bishop offered the mission support portion of the meeting with focus on the missionary Paul and work in West Africa. After missionaries were named and those with special needs in the community given, she closed in prayer.
