Native visitors, Bible stories instruct children at VBS
Children attending Bible School at the Washington Seventh Day Adventist Church learned that "It's All About Jesus" and were visited by some special guests. The Washington Seventh Day Adventist Church held a very successful Vacation Bible School July 27 through August 1. Theme for the week was "It's All About Jesus."
Children attending received facsimile passports or visas to Mexico, China, Africa, Brazil, and to the American Indians.
There were two countries represented by natives of their countries. They were Emma Zhang of China; and here in Washington, Ann Rogers, Cherokee Indian; and her husband, Barry Rogers, Kiowa Indians. They are owners of Otter Creek Gardens in Washington.
According to Rachel Moreland, director of the school, there were spiritual blessings and much fun. There were healthy snacks that were served representing the countries that were studied. The stories of Ruth, David, Esther, the first disciples chosen, and Paul were studied to help the children Be Loyal, Be Ready, Be Changed, Be Brave, and Be Real.
A graduation program was held Saturday night after the vesper service was given by Pastor Benjamin Moreland, a former student at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.
A social was planned with active games and table games for children and parents. Appreciation was expressed to parents who allowed their children to participate, and to parents and others who assisted with the school.
