Graham Echols finishes AJGM tour in second place

2009-08-06 / Sports

Competing in the Augusta Junior Golf Magazine Tour event held July 23, at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Augusta, Graham Echols shot an even par 72 to finish one stroke off the lead in second place.

With a double-bogey on the parfour first hole, and bogeys on three, six and eight, Echols seemed to struggle through the front nine. A birdie on the par-five ninth seemed to settle his nerves and Echols went to work on the back nine holes. Adding three more birdies and an eagle to his score card he was able to finish his round at even par to finish one stroke behind eventual winner Taylor Gove.

The AJGM Tour provides tournament competition for junior golfers of all ages living in the Augusta area. There are approximately fifty golfers competing in the 15-18 year-old age group in which Echols competes. The tournament at Bartram Trail was the final event of the AJGM Summer Tour. With his second place finish at Bartram Trail, Echols will also finish second in the AJGM points for the summer tour.
