Calvin documentary to be shown Aug. 27 at Mary Willis Library
The Washington Presbyterian Church has received a new film documentary on "John Calvin -- His Life and Legacy."
The church will sponsor the showing of the 60-minute documentary on Thursday, August 27, at the Mary Willis Library at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.
This year marks the 500th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin, one of the key figures in the Reformed Christian heritage. The documentary combines insightful interviews of well-known Calvin scholars with creative and stunning visuals from such historic places as Geneva and Paris.
The project is the first definitive documentary to dispel the myths of, and set the context and conditions for, Calvin's effect on the Church and the whole course of Western Civilization, according to Rev. Glen Kolhagen, pastor of the Washington Presbyterian Church.
