Sunday School Union convenes August 28-30 with Hilliard Station

The Wilkes County Sunday School Union convened with the Hilliard Station Baptist Church August 28- 30. Rev. Dwight Foster served as host pastor and Robert King served as host superintendent.

The session was opened by the vice-president, Johnny Bankston. The devotional service was led by Jimmie Harris and Andre Butler. Rev. Edward Anderson delivered the sermon titled "They Shall Teach Them Diligently."

The Saturday session was opened by the president, Charles Morgan. Willie Hampton and Gerald Perry led the devotional service. Trey Daniels was the youth devotional leader. Donta Tutt welcomed those present and the 45-minute Bible lesson was taught by Thomas Miller. Clara Sutton was the youth teacher.

During the business session announcement was made that the Union picnic will be held October 3; the Union anniversary, October 4 at 4 p.m., at Gibson Grove Baptist Church; and that all college letters are due by November 27.

The doctrinal sermon from Philippians was preached by Rev. Michael Gresham.

During the youth session, Tavin Binns presided as president and Teniyah Barnes as secretary. The inspirational address was given by Dionysus Gartrell titled "Cleaning House." The Bible Bowl was led by Rev. Ed Anderson.

President Morgan opened the Sunday morning session. Eddie Finnell and Joe L. Towns led the devotional. Fred Willis presided as Sunday school superintendent. The inspirational address was by Murray Butler on "Love Is the Only Answer." The missionary sermon was delivered by Rev. Robert Crawford, "What a Friend We Have In Jesus. Rev. Crawford led the benediction.

The next Union session will convene November 27-29 at Gibson Grove Baptist Church.
