A special service at Fountain Campground in Warren County honored Jack Newsome for his dedicated services as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Campground for the past 40 years.

Ronnie Johnson, chairman of the Fountain Campground Board of Trustees, welcomed everyone to the program and led the opening prayer. He spoke on behalf of the trustees in expressing appreciation for Newsome's many years of service to the Campground. Others who spoke words of appreciation were Robert Reese, Don Reese, Terry Reese, and Rev. Wade Palmer.

Newsome's sister, Jean Newsome Casey of Cedartown, shared her memories of the family's involvement in the Campground, beginning in the 1940s. Their father, the late G.B. Newsome, served as a trustee for over 40 years, and their mother, the late, Mary Taylor Newsome, compiled a history of the Campground and presented it at homecoming services in 1969.

The honoree's daughter, Lisa N. Meister, read a letter from their sister, Ramona N. King, of North Carolina who shared her memories and also her regrets at not being present due to a prior commitment.

Newsome was presented a plaque of appreciation and the service closed with one of his favorite gospel songs, "Beulah Land."

The evening began with a covered dish meal featuring barbecued chicken prepared by some of the trustees. Freddy Brown presented a medley of gospel hymns at the piano. Special music was rendered by vocalists Connie Moore, Jessie Moore, and Wade Palmer, after which they led the congregation in singing several hymns.

Newsome family members present for the occasion were his wife Marilyn; their daughter, Lisa Meister; their son, Jack II, his wife Mary Lois and sons Graham and Kohen; Jean and James Casey and their daughters, Janice Shelley and Joan Mitchell, their grandson, Drew Mulcay, and great-grandson, Jackson Bozeman, all of Cedartown.
