Phyllis Pannell Wilkinson
Funeral services for Phyllis Pannell Wilkinson, 64, of Washington were held Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Black Rock AME Church, Tignall, with Rev. Michele C. Williams, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkinson was born in Halifax County, Va. She graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C., and began her work career with the federal government. She retired after 30 years. She was a member of Black Rock AME Church, Tignall, where she founded the Youth Scholarship Foundation. She was a member of the Masonic Organization, the Eastern Star, and the Daughters of Isis, serving as Illustrious Commandress in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Wilkinson of Washington; a son, Vincent Wilkinson, and his wife Sandy of Washington; a stepson, Gary Andrews and his wife Minnie of Athens; seven grandchildren, Vincent Jr., Delicia, Melody, Ashley, Saprina, Kendra, Gary Jr., and Simmie; one great-granddaughter, Ariana; two sisters, Josephine Hargrave of Chesapeake, Va., and Marlyne Pannell of Suitland, Md.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
