Homeownership Expo is Saturday from noon to 4 at Pope Center

Saturday's Homeownership Expo and Family Day is set for noon-4 p.m. at The Pope Center in Washington.

"We want to invite residents of the close surrounding areas to attend this Homeownership Expo and Family Day," said Mildred Hudson, "to help them better understand how to become homeowners; maintain homes they may already have; improve and maintain good credit; how to avoid predatory scams and to hear about Rural Development, HUD and DCA programs and services they may be eligible for."

Hudson, housing counseling assistant to certified homebuyer educator Barbara Bacon, said that participants in the expo would learn about job opportunities, starting a business, health services, banking services, voter registration, and more.

A play, "Wedding of the Century" by Cynthia Stokes-Walton, will be performed, and $250 in prizes will be awarded.

These services are sponsored by the City of Washington and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and are being offered free to the participants. Contact Hudson or Bacon at 706-678-3277 to sign up or for additional information.
