We had good services at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Sunday. We were happy Rev. Martin was back and feeling good. His message was from Luke 22:14-20. The Lord's Supper was observed. New overhead fans with beautiful lights for the children's Sunday School rooms were donated to the church. John and Trudy Sutherland installed them. All the children came to the front and gave a big thank you for them, and during storytime they sang "The Bible" and gave the salute to the Christian Flag. We all are proud of them and appreciate their teachers so much. ƒTwenty-two members of Clifford's Grove went to Watkinsville Saturday for a fun-filled day at Washington Farms. Not only the children had fun but we were told the grownups did, too. ƒThe Georgia Baptist Association will celebrate the 225th year with an eightday schedule beginning this Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Greensboro. Dr. Robert White, Executive Director of the Georgia Baptist Convention, will be the keynote speaker. A covered dish meal will be served after the program. Rev. Perryman invites everyone to attend as many of the services as possible throughout the week to celebrate 225 years of God's goodness to the Georgia Baptist Association, which was the first association ever. ƒJanet Blaine came home Sunday after spending several days in Wills Memorial Hospital. Sue Davis spent time with her while Scott was at work. She is feeling much better and we hope she will be well soon. Her parents, Wonnie and Chestene Short of Clear Fork, West Va., arrived Sunday evening to spend some time with them. ƒVisiting Scott and Janet Monday night and having supper with them were Tim Worley of Athens; Ronnie Ammons and friend Bobby of Waynesville, N.C. ƒJames and Ansley Braxton and baby Emmie of Hull spent the day Wednesday with his parents, James and Judy Braxton. Visiting that afternoon were Kathrine Hughes and Marilyn Wallace of Washington. ƒTrudy Sutherland carried her mother, Juanita Bradford, to her foot doctor in Thomson several times during the week. They had lunch at Ryans before returning home. ƒJames attended services at Tignall Baptist Church Sunday morning. I went with him Sunday evening. ƒThe following item was in our church bulletin Sunday: "Think: 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given."
Scott and Janet Blain had quite an exciting experience Monday when they killed a 6 ft. rattlesnake on the Lundberg Road. They ran over it, then had to finish killing it with sticks. |
