Funeral services for Janie Hampton, 94, of Washington were held Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church on Big Cedar Road, Washington, with Rev. H.T. Butler, Eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died October 1.

Mrs. Hampton was a native of Wilkes County. She was the widow of Marsh Hampton and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, and evening rides.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosa Durrah and Louise Cobb; five sons, Lacy Hampton and Johnny Marsh Hampton of Washington, Terry Hampton of Marietta, Charles Hampton of Riverdale, and Tom Hampton of McDonough; two granddaughters whom she raised, Elaine Hampton and Honora Hill; and a sister, Inez Walker of Washington.

Grandchildren served as pallbearers.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
