DeLeon Denard
Graveside services for DeLeon Denard, 79, of Orchard St., Washington were held Monday, October 5, 2009, at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Roy Cates officiating. He died Saturday, October 3, in Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.
Mr. Denard was a native of Lincoln County and was the son of the late O.A. Denard and Amanda Matthews Denard. He had lived most of his life in Washington. He was a Production Manager at Pet Milk, Inc., retiring in 1987. Following his retirement he worked for O.A. Denard Construction Co. He was a cattle farmer and loved gardening. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Washington.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Standard Denard, of Washington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Wilma Denard of Flowery Branch, Brian and Renee Denard of Washington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Bill Lockwood, Brentwood, Tenn., and Karen and Roy McGee of Lincolnton; three brothers, O.A. Denard Jr., Washington, Darden Denard, Tignall, and Robert Ray Denard, Gray; four sisters, Sybil Walton, Hoschton, Barbara Kesler, Ormond Beach, Fla., Katrina Weber of Washington, and June Baston of Washington; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
