Funeral services for Mattie Ruth Harris Hampton, 78, were held Saturday, October 3, 2009, in the T.A. McLendon Memorial Chapel of Davenport-McLendon Mortuary Inc., Washington, with Rev. Demetrice Porter officiating. Interment was in City West Cemetery. She died Sunday, September 27, at Peachtree Christian Hospice Center in Duluth.

Mrs. Hampton was the daughter of the late Tommie Mays and the late Jena Harris. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Joe Hampton of Washington; five children, Betty Hampton and Ronald Williams of Pittsburgh, Penn., Leroy Hampton, Washington, Deborah Hampton and Benjamin Chennault, Douglasville; Ronda Hampton, Pittsburgh, Penn., and Pamela R. Hampton, Washington; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary Inc. of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
