Pawprints fund-raiser Oct. 24 in Augusta to benefit W-W Shelter
The Pawprints Foundation of Augusta is hosting "Pawprints: Art for Animals," a fund-raiser to benefit the Washington-Wilkes Humane Animal Shelter and the CSRA Humane Society.
The event will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, at Taylor BMW on Washington Road in Augusta.
"Although we are calling the fund-raiser 'Art for Animals,' actually it's much more than that," said Dr. Nancy McNair, head of the foundation. "In addition to artwork from local artists as well as artists all over the country, there will be a variety of delicious foods, provided by local restaurants; live music by Leo Dean, who is probably Jimmy Buffet's long lost twin; silent and live auctions, featuring all sorts of wonderful and unique items; a flea market; and a number of vendors, who have the perfect gift for that 'hard-to-buy-for' person on everybody's Christmas list.
"We encourage animal lovers from both Augusta and Washington and all points in between to come out and enjoy a wonderful evening of food, entertainment, and shopping, while giving a helping hand to these two worthwhile organizations."
According to a spokesman for the Washington-Wilkes Humane Shelter Association (W-WHAS), "We are very grateful that the Pawprints Foundation is hosting this event to help meet the needs of the animals at our shelter. We heartily encourage local residents to participate in this fund-raiser."
Tickets, which cost $20 for an individual and $30 for a couple, are on sale at Scarborough's and Petal Pushers Christmas in Washington.
