The connection between foul rural odors and food on our plates is lost on some folks
      I noticed yesterday one of my favorite seasonal smells: that crisp whiff of freshly fallen oak leaves heated by the sun and blown by cool, dry wind. It brought back fine old memories of college footb all weeke time in the woods, and backyard cookouts.

Simple pleasures like Ritz crackers make fall so wonderful
      There are so many good things in life. Simple things that don't cause heartburn and headaches. But you can't find them on a computer or at a technology store. Things like a grandchild saying, "I wuv you." Or a pretty coed, dressing the way I re- member they dressed in another day. Or a football player who returns a phone call.
