Farm Bureau collecting donations to aid in Harvest for All Campaign
The Wilkes County Farm Bureau is collecting staple food items and monetary donations until November 6 during the statewide Harvest for All Campaign, coordinated by Georgia Farm Bureau in an effort to help Georgians in need. Collections will be distributed to eight food banks throughout Georgia.
"Farmers are in the business of feeding Georgia and the United States," said Frank Bentley, Wilkes County Farm Bureau president. "As farmers, it's instinctive that we help our fellow Georgians who are in need, especially during this period of challenging times."
The top staple food items requested by the food banks are peanut butter, cereal, canned meat, rice, dried beans or peas, macaroni and cheese, boxed pizza, Hamburger Helper, soup, and canned vegetables.
If you would like to participate in the food drive, please deliver your food or monetary donations to the Wilkes County Farm Bureau office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information call JoAnn Wheatley at 706-678-1760.
The Harvest for All Campaign is jointly coordinated by the Georgia Farm Bureau Women's and Young Farmers Committees. Founded in 1937, Georgia Farm Bureau is the state's largest general farm organization with over 400,000 member families statewide.
