Mary C. Reid WOM members meet October 6 at FBC
The Mary C. Reid Women on Mission met in the Jesse Mercer Chapel of First Baptist Church on Tuesday morning, October 6.
Mrs. Dennis Hopkins led the reading of the WMU Watchword, the WMU mission statement and gave the opening prayer.
Mrs. Hopkins welcomed a guest, Mrs. Klay Aspinwall, who gave information on upcoming church events and noted that there is a focus on community missions.
Mrs. Mary Ann Bentley led a prayer for those with special needs.
After the business meeting, Mrs. James Johnson offered the prayer calendar.
The program from "Mosaic" was given in three parts. Mrs. Hopkins began by showing a map of West Africa containing the nation of Niger where Teresa and Don Bolls are missionaries to the Zerma people. Mrs. Johnson described the Bolls' work in education, improvements in sanitation and farming and tree planting. Mrs. Joe Harris told of the many challenges they face in trying to improve living conditions and spread Christianity.
Mrs. Hopkins closed the meeting with prayer.
Present for the meeting were Mrs. Mary Ann Bentley, Mrs. Joe Harris, Mrs. Dennis Hopkins, Mrs. James Johnson, Mrs. Charles Reese, Mrs. Frank Story and Mrs. Klay Aspinwall.
