Edwards decendants gather in Washington for reunion October 3
The Etheldred and Julia O. Edwards descendants came to Washington during the weekend of October 3 to celebrate their reunion.
The family originated in the part of Wilkes County that became Taliaferro County after the county was divided. Etheldred Edwards is the first of the family to be actually born in Georgia and remained in Georgia.
Descendants came from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington, DC.
Festivities began with a "meet and greet" at the Washington Jockey Club for a catered meal on Thursday evening. They gathered at The Pope Center on Friday and, on Saturday, met at Sandy Cross Baptist Church and toured areas in Taliaferro County.
