Children's Theatre production helps to keep art in education
TO THE EDITOR:
Once again, the WLTCo's Children's Theatre enthralled our students (PreK-5th grade) with their annual production! This year's play was a rendition of the traditional story of Alladdin. The actors provided an exceptional performance and encouraged audience participation throughout the show.
This was a "black box" performance which required our children to use their imagination and draw upon their background experience with the story. By telling the story in this way, our students were not only exposed to live theatre, but a different way of performing a play! What a wonderful opportunity for our children to be able to exerperience quality live theatre right here in Washington!
I want to especially thank the Washington Little Theater Board of Directors for providing this to our students free of charge this year! I was thrilled when I received a letter in the spring from Libby Foster stating that the board had considered the current economical issues the schools were experiencing and had therefore elected to waive the fee for our students so that we could continue to enjoy this fabulous experience. The WLTCo Board acknowledges, as do we, that the arts are an important component of a child's education.
I am always so grateful that I live in a community filled with such generosity and caring!
