Advance tickets are available online for Nov. 21 Connye Florance jazz concert

CONNYE FLORANCE Advance tickets are on sale now for Nashville jazz vocalist Connye Florance's much anticipated concert next Saturday, November 21, as the first musical act in the Washington- Wilkes Historical Foundation Concert Series lineup.

Tickets range from $30 and are available for purchase online at historyofwilkes.org/ events.html or by contacting the Washington-Wilkes Historical Foundation at 706-678-5001.

Accompanied by pianist Kevin Madill, Florance will be performing classic jazz songs like "Drop Me Off In Harlem" along with original songs she has written and produced from her successful one-woman show, Jazz Rhapsody.

Florance will perform at the Bolton Lunceford Playhouse in Washington for an intimate audience of 150 members. This performance marks Florance's debut in Washington.

Based in Nashville, Florance tours regularly throughout the Southeast with well-known artists including the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, Columbia artists Jennifer Holliday and the Modern Jazz Tuba Project. Florance has also shared the stage with industry notables Beegie Adair, and Grammy award winners Randy Brecker and Benita Hill.

The Foundation Concert Series is presented by the Washington- Wilkes Historical Foundation (WWHF) and Sound Artist Support. This dynamic new series was created as a fund-raiser to help build membership and public support for the Washington-Wilkes Historical Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving all aspects of local history. Throughout the past 200 years, Washington and Wilkes County have been enriching their cultural atmosphere by promoting emerging talent in the performing arts. The W-WHF aims to continue that tradition by supporting young talent while also continuing to serve the historical community of Washington.

The 2009/2010 season of the Foundation Concert Series includes four unique musical performances by a range of artists that have performed throughout the world including John Mock, Brian Horner, M. Zachary Johnson, and Elizabeth Avery.
