Folk artist wins Fall ArtFest 2009
Debbie Wells of the Washington-Wilkes Arts Foundation presents folk artist Peter Loose with the first prize ribbon and $750 in cash for his winning entry in the 2009 Fall ArtFest juried art show and sale. Photographer Johnny Lynn of Cherry Log, Georgia, took second place. The ArtFest filled The Square with art and artists displaying and selling their work, all designed to promote the arts in Wilkes County, especially for the children. Volunteer Becky Stover helps Maura Jackson (at right) and Lillian Edwards work on their rain sticks Saturday at one of several art stations at the Fall ArtFest 2009. As in years past, hundreds of children took active parts in the Arts Foundation's outreach to promote art participation in local children. |
