All right. Who was the practical joker? I had a message on my machine from a Chinese man. He spoke perfect Chinese, not English. I didn't know if he wanted a vendor space at the festival or he had a wrong number. Naturally I couldn't return his call. Speaking of telephones, I hate cell phones, but know sometimes they are necessary. My family is always telling me they tried to call my cell phone and I don't have it turned on. I think of it as an emergency tool. With the entrance of cell phones, manners went out the window. Anyway, somehow my cell phone was turned on Sunday night at church and I didn't know it. When Dr. Dupree was praying at the end of his sermon, he said that our young people today can't hear the Lord for their cell phones ringing and all of a sudden, right on cue, everyone hears
Rhapsody in Blue soaring out (at least it wasn't
Boot Scootin' Boogie). I know it's my phone because I don't know of anyone else with that tune on their phone. What an embarrassing moment. ƒI understand there were about 150 people at the youth rally sponsored by Tignall Baptist Youth at the Tignall gym Saturday night. They were entertained by the band called "Lazarus Unwound," the Newtown Band, and Sydney Pullen, Larry and Pam Pullen's granddaughter from Elberton. Brian George was the featured speaker. They had a wonderful rally with many churches represented. ƒScott and Kathy Ware attended church in Royston Sunday with Scott's brother, Bobby Howell. ƒSpending the weekend with Alex and Kay Tyler were Jordan and Sydney Tyler of Hoschton. Greg and Gena Tyler and Caleb came for the day Saturday and attended the Tignall Fall Festival with the rest of the family. ƒSpending the weekend with O'Neal and Celeste Adams were Amanda and Abby Range of Bethlehem and Joe and Kimberly Coots, Connor and Chase of Ranger. ƒ Owen Hilley of Commerce spent Friday night with his grandparents, David and Nancy Hilley. He attended the festival with them. David and Nancy attended the Arrington Family Reunion in Louisville Sunday. ƒThe flowers placed in Tignall Baptist Church were in honor of Angel Lindsley's 80th birthday which was last week. Happy birthday, Angel. ƒ I was sorry to hear from Tommy Rambo that his mother, Evelyn Rambo, who now lives in Greenwood, had a fall and required stitches to her head. ƒLet's remember Myrline Thornton in our prayers. She had a heart attack last Friday, but is doing better. Let's also remember Louise Grimaud and her family. Her son, Chris Bentley, passed away last week. ƒDon't forget the Senior Adult Thanksgiving luncheon to be held on Tuesday, November 17, at 11:30 a.m. at Tignall Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Homer from Homerville followed by lunch. Please let Pat Bobo know by Sunday, November 15, if you plan to attend.
