Funeral services for Gloria Ann Peters, 83, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Interment will be in the historic Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery. She died November 8, at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Peters was born in Miami, Fla., to the late Robert M. and Sally Pearl Patterson. She grew up in Georgia and graduated from high school in Washington-Wilkes. She was a seamstress, a gardener, and an artist. As a young woman she worked in the Naval Yard in North Charleston, S.C., where she met and married John E. Peters from Missouri. They traveled to many army bases including one year in Germany. They settled in Kansas City, Missouri, and moved to Lee's Summit in 1962 where they established a home building business and land development. She was the widow of John E. Peters.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Paul Dill and Julia and Doug Weddle, all of Lee's Summit; grandchildren and spouses, Kevin and Diana Dill and Brenda and Matt Helbling, all of Lee's Summit, Karla and Matt Sander of Blanton, Penn., and Molly and Joel Boyd of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Caylea Dill and Jenna and Bennett Helbling, all of Lee's Summit; siblings and spouses, Lewis and Sheila Patterson, Oceanview, DE, Irvin and Sandy Patterson, Lester Patterson and Esther and George Lyon, all of Lee's Summit; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irene Patterson, Arlington, Texas, Vic and Alice Peters, Independence, Alice Cotton, Tygard, Oregon, Thelma Peters and Margaret Peters of Belton, and Alvin and Janis Peters of Raytown.

Langsford Funeral Home of Lee's Summit, Missouri, was in charge of arrangements.
