Gresham-Saggus WOM members meet November 5
The Rhetta Gresham-Terry Bennett Saggus Women on Mission met in the Jesse Mercer Chapel of the First Baptist Church Thursday afternoon, November 5.
Mabel Johnson presided in the absence of Gladys Reese. She welcomed everyone and led in the repeating of the WMU Watchword.
During the business meeting Mrs. Johnson, secretary, and June Chafin, treasurer, gave their reports. Members also voted to make a donation to help with the postage for the Samaritan's Purse project.
Helen Miller, assisted by the group, presented the program, "Plowing Concrete," from Mosaic magazine. The program told of the hardships of missionaries trying to take the gospel to a formerly Communist country where people are skeptical and untrusting. It was noted that it is not easy to engage these people in spiritual conversations; it is like "plowing concrete".
Following the program Mrs. Johnson led the missionary prayer calendar and closed in prayer for the missionaries and those with special needs in the community.
Present were Mabel Johnson, June Chafin, Catherine Thurmond, Gail Craddock, Helen Miller, and Ann Tanner.
