Gingerbread houses needed for Christmas Tour of Homes exhibit

Calling all bakers!

This year's Washington-Wilkes Historical Foundation Christmas Tour wants you to make gingerbread houses to display in the Gingerbread House Exhibit being held during the Foundation's Christmas Tour of Homes.

The exhibit will be held at the former Petal Pushers location on the west side of the Square and will open Friday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free to the public.

Everyone is eligible to participate, whatever age, and there is no restriction on the house size. There will be no competition or prizes for this year for the houses, it will just be another special activity offered during the W-W Historical Foundation Christmas Tour and Colonial Dinner, with Ed Franklin as chairman.

Lots of design ideas are available on the internet but new creative ideas are always best, not to mention it's a great way to get rid of Halloween candy! The houses and historic buildings of Washington-Wilkes would make outstanding designs for the gingerbread creations.

Deliver your house(s) on Monday, December 7, to 10 West Square between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Call Mr. Franklin after 2 p.m. at 706-678-7661 to have someone meet you if you need to deliver your creation prior to that Monday.

For additional information call C. Carol Cartledge at 706-678-2464.
