Florida and Alabama are on a collision course to meet for the SEC title on the first weekend in December. It appears that Clemson and Georgia Tech are taking a similar path toward the top spot in the ACC with a berth in the Orange Bowl for the winner. There are still a few hurdles for the Tigers and Jackets to clear, however, before punching their tickets for Tampa. Two such hurdles are this week.

Clemson at N.C. State - On paper the Tigers should roll over the Pack. Of course, they won't play the game "on paper". State will have the home field advantage and Clemson faces a letdown following the big win over FSU. Still, the Tigers should chase the Wolves out of Carter-Finley Stadium. Clemson by 17.

Georgia Tech at Duke - While Clemson is gaining momentum, Tech seems to be leveling off. Duke is greatly improved, but Tech is clearly the better team. Georgia Tech by 19.

Tennessee at Ole Miss - Houston Nutt's Rebels will have their hands full with Lane and Monty Kiffin's Vols. Tennessee's offense is finally clicking and this one should be close. Ole Miss by 3.

Kentucky at Vandy - The Wildcats from the Blue Grass State should prevail over their neighbors from Tennessee. Kentucky by 7.

Florida at South Carolina - The Gamecocks are in the midst of their usual late season swoon. The Gators have their eyes on another national title. Florida by 12.

Auburn at Georgia - The Dawgs need a win here to become bowl eligible. It will be tough and I don't think they can pull it off. Auburn by 4.

Alabama at Mississippi State - This could be a trap for Bama. The Bulldogs have been preparing for two weeks and their head coach directed Florida's offense to a win over the Tide when he was the Gators' offensive coordinator last year. With so much on the line, however, Bama should avoid a letdown and squeak one out. Alabama by 8.

FSU at Wake Forest - Both squads are struggling to even become bowl eligible. It would not be surprising to see the score board blow a fuse if the FSU QB was healthy. With Ponder out Wake takes the win. Wake by 2.

Miami at UNC - Miami's prolific offense led by QB Jecory Harris should be able to outscore North Carolina's plodding strike unit. Miami by 16.

Virginia Tech at Maryland - Beamer's boys are unpredictable, but Friedgen's bunch should be no match for them. Virginia Tech by 14.

Boston College at Virginia - BC is still in the hunt for the Atlantic Division Championship. With this incentive and the Wahoos' downhill slide, look for the Eagles to soar. Boston College by 13.
