Lady Bucs finish second in state

Four Wilkes County girls were key hitters in Briarwood Academy's bid for the GISA state championship in girls softball. The team competed in the Georgia Independent Schools Association state playoff tournament held at the Walter B. Williams Jr. Complex in Milledgeville and finished at state runners-up. The Lady Bucs fell to Terrell Academy's Lady Eagles in a heart-breaking 5-4 loss in extra innings. Wilkes County girls on the team include senior first baseman Taylor Echols, senior pitcher and second baseman Gerry Hall, junior left fielder Emily Henderson, and senior center fielder Lizzie Keen.
