McMillians honored Sunday at Beaverdam Baptist Church
Rev. and Mrs. John McMillian were honored at Beaverdam Baptist Church Sunday, November 8.
Beginning with the Sunday School Director, Ricky Maxwell, and continuing through the worship service there were words of gratitude and prayers by the pastor and deacons -- all veterans themselves -- for our veterans, today's soldiers, victims and their loved ones of the Fort Hood tragedy.
The church's Thanksgiving fellowship was early so that pastor appreciation day could be observed at the same time. After Pastor McMillian brought challenging message based on Matthew 21, 28-32, all gathered in the Clifton Barrett Fellowship Hall which the hospitality committee had decorated in fall colors. Pumpkins, Pilgrim figurines, cornucopia, autumn leaves, and a bountiful assortment of holiday foods added to the Thanksgiving feelings of all.
After a time of fellowship before the meal, a card signed by members and a gift of appreciation were presented to Rev. McMillian by Richard Byrd, chairman of deacons, who spoke for all in expressing gratitude. Rev.McMillian and his wife Peggy serve in many ways as active members of Beaverdam and are truly appreciated. Rev. McMillian, who had asked God's blessing on the meal, voiced their thanks and feelings for the church and congregation.
Everyone was delighted to have young visitors, Brittney Byrd who accompanied her grandparents, Richard and Betty Byrd, and Mrs. Rob Moore and Shelby of Crawfordville. Shelby is the nine-week-old granddaughter of Ricky and Rosie Maxwell.
