Couple hit in crosswalk

 As Washington Rescue and Wilkes EMS personnel help one victim on the pavement, others comfort driver Michelle White, of Wilkes County, after she hit a man and woman in the crosswalk at West Robert Toombs Avenue and Spring Street last Thursday. White was turning left onto Robert Toombs, the police report said, when she failed to observe Charles and Elizabeth Wagner walking in the crosswalk. The car struck Mr. Wagner who then tumbled into his wife. Both were transported to Wills Memorial Hospital, treated and released. No charges were filed against the driver. |
