Rev. Glaze, family honored on Nov. 8 at Pole Branch
Pole Branch Missionary Baptist Church honored its pastor, Rev. Joe L. Glaze, his wife, Diana, and daughter, Kennedy, for seven years of faithful and dedicated service to the church Sunday, November 8.
Pastor Glaze's special guests included Rev. Luther Mahoney of the St. Luke Full Gospel Church of Elberton. Rev. Mahoney was introduced to the congregation by his wife. Several of his members, along with his choir, were in attendance.
Rev. Mahoney is a native of Wilkes County. Several of his former classmates, teacher, and staff members were in attendance.
He brought an inspiring message entitled "God Is Looking for Some Men."
Rev. Glaze and his family wee showered with gifts in appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the church. The members pray they will be with Pole Branch for future years to come. "Kitten" Fain, Evelyn Rambo, Leonard Danner, Mary Ann Williams who will have had surgery Tuesday, Joan Baker and the family of Tom Bufford. ƒThe Tignall Christmas Parade will take place on Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to be a part of this parade, if not in the parade, then as a spectator. Hopefully all churches will participate. If you are driving a vehicle, make sure it is decorated for Christmas. The Washington-Wilkes High School Band will be marching and Santa will be a part of the event. Everyone, children and adults, is looking forward to this day. Line-up will be at the beginning of Sandtown Road. ƒThe North Wilkes Steering Committee has more notecards for sale if you didn't buy them at the festival. These notecards are sketches made by Kat Dodson of the old school, the old bank which is now the North Wilkes Library and Museum, and the water tank with the words "I'd Rather Be in Tignall." The note cards are $10 for a package. You may call Pat Bobo at 706-285-2467. ƒDon't forget the Charlotte Ritchie concert at Beulah Baptist Church on Sunday, November 29, at 6 p.m. A love offering will be accepted.
ƒThe Tignall Baptist Church members enjoyed a delicious soup and sandwich lunch after the morning worship service. This lunch was sponsored by the youth of the church. Another highlight of the day was the arrival of the church directories. Each family photographed received their directory, so if you were not there Sunday and didn't receive yours, you may get them next Sunday. The director was dedicated to the late "Preacher Dale." ƒThe Ty Herndon concert will be at the Tignall Gym on Thursday, December 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a meet and greet at the Keener home at 6 p.m. This is a benefit for Calli Nickels. Tickets are sold at the Chamber of Commerce, WWCHS, and the Sandwich Shop. Tickets for the concert are $10. Tickets for the meet and greet are $20.
