Funeral services for Willene Hallford Durham, 89, of Crawfordville were held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Crawfordville Baptist Church with Rev. John Autry and Rev. Wade Palmer officiating. She died Wednesday, November 11, at St. Joseph's at East Georgia in Greensboro.

Mrs. Durham was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late William Wallace Hallford and the late Myrtice Sims Hallford. She attended Washington High School and was the widow of Steed G. Durham. They made their home in Crawfordville where she was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing Company. After leaving this employment she was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of the Crawfordville Baptist Church and active in her church and community.

Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Durham Parrish of Madison, and Stephanie Durham of Crawfordville; two grandchildren, Craig Parrish and Leigh Parrish; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Parrish and Annie Parrish; and a brother, Ernest Addison Hallford of the Sandy Cross community.

Pallbearers included George Richards, Kermit Hocutt, Robert Wynne, Bill Morris, Charlie Taylor, and Bud Kennedy.

Honorary pallbearers were Alex Durham, Graham Durham, Max Edwards, Charles Greene, Robert Harold Kendrick, Gus Mayo, Joel McRay, and Dr. W.H. Rhodes Jr.

Callaway Funeral Home of Union Point was in charge of arrangements.
