Kathryn Suzanne Flake Blain Albert Echols Mr. and Mrs. Cary Flake of Concord announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Suzanne, of Augusta, to Blain Albert Echols of Guyton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Echols of Tignall.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Flake of Lake Jackson, Tex.

She is a graduate of Pike County High School and holds a degree in Biological Science from the University of Georgia in Athens. Miss Flake is a second-year medical student at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Mr. Echols is the grandson of Mrs. Reid Merritt and the late Judge Merritt of Lawrenceville and Mr. and Mrs. James E. Echols of Tignall.

He is a graduate of Washington- Wilkes Comprehensive High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Mr. Echols is employed by Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, January 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Washington.
