Tracie McGhee, High School Coordinator with Athens Technical College, spoke to members of the CTAE Department and the CTAE Advisory Committee at W-WCHS about opportunities for high school students to earn college credit while still in high school. She covered dual enrollment, ACCEL, and articulation programs.

Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School students who enter technical colleges within two years of high school graduation may be eligible for college credit based on courses they took in high school.

"Articulation" allows high school students to transfer credit for certain high school course work to technical colleges in Georgia. This keeps students from duplicating work or from sitting in classes that they have already taken at the high school level. Articulation saves students time and money.

Those present from the Wilkes County school system included the members of the W-WCHS CTAE Department, Principal Steve Echols, Assistant Principal Mark Ward, and Curriculum Director Lisa Isham. Attending from the CTAE Advisory Committee were Robin Spradlin (Business & Computer Science), Chris Townsend (Early Childhood Education), and Blake Thompson (Healthcare Science).
