Cornelia Johnson Circle meets November 3 in fellowship hall
The Cornelia Johnson Circle met in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday evening, November 3.
Laura Toburen opened the meeting by welcoming members and leading a prayer for Calli Nickels for whom a prayer vigil was being held on The Square at that same time.
A business meeting followed.
It was noted that donations had been made to the Nancy Long Cancer Drive and the transportation fund for cancer victims. Other committee reports were given in regards to cards, meals, and visits to the sick and shut-ins.
Members were asked to assist with providing food, drinks and service for the upcoming Family Day at the Wilkes Pre-Release Center on December 4 and with the next meal for senior shut-ins on December 10.
Upcoming events announced were the Christmas outing to White Columns on December 1; the Angel Tree Celebration on December 19, and Baby Dedication for Missions on February 14.
The program was a video presentation of Lisa Whelchel from the Women of Faith Conference held in Atlanta August 23-24. Lisa, who played the part of Blair Warner on NBC's "Facts of Life," gave an inspiring testimony of her life as a Christian wife, mother, speaker and writer.
Delicious refreshments of apple caramel nut cake, cheese straws and hot cider were provided by Jo Randall, Randee Barry and Susan Branan.
