Angels are ready for selection on the tree at FUMC The annual Angel Tree at the First United Methodist Church has been put up at the church and the Angels are ready for selection, according to Tammy Bryngelson, chairman of this year's project. "The project would not be possible without the donations and support of everyone in the community," Mrs. Bryngelson said. Anyone interested in participating in this year's project is encouraged to stop by the Church Narthex and select an angel or angels from the tree. When the gifts are ready, they may be delivered to Wesley Hall (the old fellowship hall) by Saturday, December 12, for delivery on Saturday, December 19, beginning at 9 a.m. All volunteers are welcome. "This year we are including all family members on the angel tree in hopes of making a connection that could lead to community involvement and spiritual growth for all of those involved, including the volunteers," Bryngelson said. "Our hope is that this project will become a long term mission project for organizations and civic clubs, adopting a family for a year or longer, instead of a one time project These families have a need year round, not just during the holiday season." Along with the traditional gifts for the children, several families have asked for things as simple as cleaning supplies and food, sheets and towels. It is the hope of First Methodist Church members that all of these needs are met and that with the donations that are received they will be able to purchase Bibles, biblical story books and devotional books for the homes as well. Donations may be mailed to the First United Methodist Church Angel Tree, P.O. Box 518, Washington, Ga. 30673. |
