Students at Washington-Wilkes Primary School collected food to help stock God's Marketplace Food Pantry, and ended the drive with 1,489 cans and other items. Several students helped load the heavy boxes Monday, including (l-r) Dezmon Anderson, Garnett Davis, Nathaniel Scott, Jeremy Bell, Cameron Wade, and Gregory Glenn, with a little help from (back) Buddy Lindsey, Assistant Principal Janet Pharr, and Rich Seibert. "This has been a great way for our students to reach out to those in need," Pharr said, "and to teach our children the importance of sharing and caring for others. Grade level winners were Mrs. Connell's Kindergarten class, Mrs. Driggers' first grade, Mrs. Lunceford's second grade class, and Mrs. Bearse's third grade class. "Mrs. Driggers' class collected the most cans school-wide with 166 items," she said.
